DPS Middle Schools Go to Work
First it was students from Brogden Middle visiting MCNC and Lowe’s Grove students at Fidelity. The following week more Lowe’s Grove students discovered the world of insurance and finance at NC Mutual. Githens Middle students were taught the importance of making conscious decisions at Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Durham Campus, while Rogers-Herr students learned about STEM careers at RTI International. And last week, Neal Middle students will help clean, refurbish and test computers at Lenovo.
All of these visits are a part of Students@Work℠ Week, a project of the North Carolina Business Committee for Education in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. The goal of this program is to help middle school students see the opportunities that exist in the workplace and to gain knowledge of the career skills needed to obtain those jobs in their community.
Thank you to all these amazing business partners for providing this amazing opportunity to our middle school students.
