Graduation dates set for 2016-17
Families, you can now mark your calendars to celebrate the day that your seniors will walk across the stage and turn their tassels.
Durham Public Schools announced today the graduation dates for its high and secondary schools for the 2016-17 school year. This includes the first-ever graduating class for The School for Creative Studies, a year-round specialty school serving grades 6-12. Locations have been set for each graduation ceremony except The School for Creative Studies, which will be announced soon.
Other changes include a new location for Winter Graduation (Jordan High) and a return to the Holton Career and Resource Center for Durham’s Performance Learning Center. New Tech High School, our small specialty school on the Hillside campus, moves its graduation date to May to accommodate its new college-aligned calendar.
Most DPS specialty schools will graduate in McLendon-McDougald Arena on the campus of North Carolina Central University. DPS’s large traditional high schools will graduate in Cameron Indoor Stadium at Duke University, where a new parking deck will provide convenient access to the facility.
